Do claims have time limits?
Yes, all claims have time limits. These are known as limitation periods and they are strictly applied.
Personal injuries claims have a limitation period which is generally three years from the date of the accident, or the incident, that caused your injuries.
This means that legal proceedings must be commenced within 3 years unless your claim has been settled beforehand, otherwise, your claim will become statute-barred and you will no longer be able to receive compensation for your personal injuries.
Generally, commercial claims for such things as a breach of contract, a failure to pay for your goods and/or services rendered or works done, must be settled or an action commenced in a court within 6 years of your loss having occurred.
You should seek legal advice as early as possible in regard to what the limitation period is for your potential claim.
